North Dalmatia is for sure one of the best destinations for wanderers and genuine nature lovers. Our pet-friendly house Seline summer home is a great base for discovering some of the most delightful places where you can really enjoy nature and feel the real Croatia.

 

Pag island

The Pag island is connected with the mainland with a bridge that is around 35 minutes away from Seline summer home. Built in 1968, it is 301 meters long and rises 35 meters above the Adriatic Sea.


The island is famous for its rich history and the best cheese in Croatia. It also attracts a lot of young people who come to party at the well-known Zrće beach.

 

Plitvice Lakes National Park

The Plitvice Lakes is the oldest and the largest national park in the Republic of Croatia. The process of forming tufa barriers and lakes got Plitvice inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List back in 1979.


It takes around 1h 45 minutes to get to Plitvice from Seline summer home.

 

Novigrad


Fortress Fortica - Castrum Novum in Novigrad is 30 minutes away from Seline summer home.

The historic little town is situated in a narrow bay on the southern side of the Novigrad sea. The vicinity of the Zrmanja River allows for attractive canoe, kayak or rafting excursions.

 

Telaščica Nature Park and Kornati National Park

The National Park Kornati consists of 89 islands, islets and cliffs. Only about 1/4 of the total surface (220 km²) is mainland while the rest is the marine ecosystem. The vertical cliffs of the "crown" of the Kornati islands facing the open sea are the most popular phenomenon of this park.


Telašćica Bay is located in the south-eastern part of the island of Dugi Otok, surrounded by 13 islands and islets. The area of Nature Park Telašćica offers quiet and peaceful beaches and a laid down coastline on one side, and wild and steep cliffs on the other.


Both Telašćica and Kornati can be reached by boat. We recommend booking a boat excursion from Zadar.

 

Lake Vrana Nature Park

Lake Vrana is the largest lake in Croatia. It is a special ornithological reserve, and untouched natural habitat for birds. The lake also provides an ample amount of fish for fishing enthusiasts.


The lake Vrana is located 45 minutes from Seline summer home.

 

Paklenica and Manita peć


Paklenica, one of eight national parks in Croatia, consists of two canyons - a smaller one, Mala Paklenica (eng. Small Paklenica), that is located in Seline (1,4 km from Seline summer home) and Velika Paklenica (eng. Large Paklenica), that is located in Starigrad (12,5 km from Seline summer home).

NP Paklenica is the most visited climbing site in Croatia but it is also perfect for hiking.

You should consider visiting the Manita pec, a beautiful cave filled with stalagmites, stalactites, columns, and flow-stones.


During the summer months the entrance costs around 8€ for adults and 4€ for children (and for Manita pec additional 7€ for a guided visit for adults and 4€ for children).

Wherever you decide to go, please follow the marked paths and signs, and make sure to bring enough water (!) and fully charge your phone beforehand. Also, don't forget to wear appropriate footwear. In case of an emergency, don't hesitate to call 112.

 

Tulove grede

Towering limestone cliffs and columns above a famed mountain road Majstorska cesta offer a spectacular view of the channel.


If you decide to reach the top, make sure to wear appropriate footwear. The ascent is quite challenging and can be dangerous if you're not experienced.


 

Krka National Park

Krka National Park is located in central Dalmatia, just 50 minutes from Seline summer home. It is best known for its spectacular waterfalls, including the Skradinski buk. That is the lowest of the three sets of waterfalls formed along the Krka river, and one of Croatia's most famous sights.


The boardwalk path makes a 1,9km long loop around the whole Skradinski buk area, and it takes around one hour to make a full circle. Besides the Skradinski buk trail, there are two more circular trails: Roški slap (1,4 km) and Krka Monastery (2,1 km). There are 29km of hiking trails and routes in total and 470km of cycling routes through the Park.

Swimming is prohibited in almost the entire Krka National Park, not only to preserve nature but also to reduce the number of drownings. The Park’s primary purpose is to promote science culture and recreation.


On the Skradinski buk trail, you can visit the restored watermills, some of which have been turned into souvenir shops, restaurants, craft workshops and exhibition areas for ethnographic collections.


There is also the blacksmith's workshop and traditional weaving room where you can watch the presentation of weaving of patterned fabrics and floor mats. You can also see the presentations of milling wheat, washing and pounding of cloth, horseshoe smithing, plowing, the preparation of food in the old kitchens, and more.


The Skradinski buk can be reached from Skradin, where from April to November visitors are transported by boats of the Krka National Park. Excursions can be taken by boat from the Skradinski buk to Visovac Island and the Roški slap waterfall. Krka National Park is pet friendly - dogs are not permitted only in the monastery and on Visovac Island.

 

Zrmanja river

Zrmanja river is 69 km long, and it is perfect for rafting, kayaking, or just a calm boat excursion.

 

Kuda's bridge

Kuda's bridge on the river Krupa is the most romantic bridge in Croatia.


This protected monument was built in the 18th century and it is only 1 hour from Seline summer home.

 

Nin

Nin, a small town with less than 3000 inhabitants, but rich in history dating back to the ninth century BC. When Slavs and Croats immigrated to this area at the end of the 6th and the beginning of the 7th century, Nin became their first political, cultural and religious center.


Nin is located just 50 minutes from Seline summer home. While visiting Nin, you should also check out two towns nearby - Zaton and Pakoštane.

 

Zadar

Zadar is a historical city where you will find some of the most beautiful monuments of architecture and cultural heritage of the eastern Adriatic coast. It is located 40 minutes from Seline summer home.
